Meet The Henson's

Joe is a native of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Joe attended the University of Arkansas, where he majored in accounting. Following a 26-year management career at IBM, Joe became President and CEO of Prime Computer, serving from 1981 to1988. After retiring from Prime Computer, he later joined the Legent Corporation as Chairman and CEO before entering venture capital.

 

Joe has served on nine public company boards and been active in education, serving as a Regent of Higher Education for the State of Massachusetts, a Board Member of the Trustees at Howard University, a Board Member of the Corporation for Babson College, a Member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Higher Education for the State of Arkansas. He was a Member of the Massachusetts High Tech Council and the Massachusetts Business Round Table.

 

Mary Kay is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Kay graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, after spending her junior year abroad at the London School of Economics. Mary Kay received her M.B.A. in International Business from Georgia State University. She also has an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from The New York School of Interior Design.

 

Mary Kay worked for IBM as a computer programmer, salesperson, product manager, and marketing executive. She has served as a volunteer on the Ladies Committee at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where she also chaired “Art in Bloom”, a major fundraising effort. While living in Washington, D.C., she was a docent at the Hillwood Museum.

Meet Bianca Harris

Dr. Bianca Harris brings a wealth of experience, a track record of success, and a deep commitment to the transformative power of education. Her involvement in the communities has been instrumental in fostering meaningful partnerships, supporting institutional goals, and working with diverse partners to develop community-driven approaches that help children and families.

 

As the director of programs, Harris will be responsible for enhancing the fund’s visibility by interfacing with education representatives in creating programs to meet the unique growth and development needs of students at Title 1 schools.Those responsibilities will focus on supporting communities and families to ensure students are thriving academically and socially.

 

Harris has extensive experience as a teacher, school counselor, principal, program coordinator and chief program officer, providing expertise in program development, measurement, evaluation, and outcomes. Most recently, Harris advised NewLeaders, Inc. a national nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to build equitably focused aspiring school leaders to dismantle disparities prevalent in K12 education in America.Previously, Harris was appointed as the school principal of aK-8 charter school in Orlando, Florida, where she was honored with the I Am Woman: Strength of Women Excellence inEducation Award for Central Florida.

 

Dr. Harris’ deep compassion for community-driven change and a strong commitment to bringing diverse perspectives together to build solutions for children makes her the right leader for our fund during this moment of change in the world, She bringsthe kind of positivity and optimism to help move the fund’s mission forward and have a lasting impact on the community.
